I've been quiet for quite some time.
I have textured and finished the long but safe path for Part 1, and I'm currently working on the short but more dangerous one.
I'm running into a bit of trouble concerning the visual design of the long path of Part 1, as it's supposed to be a deserted battlefield, but the lighting and scene makes it difficult to create such a setting. I need something to shadow down that part of the canal. Right now I can't show you anything worthwhile from the battlefield part, but I have added some new screenshots:
